Travel Baseball Team

Any child 10 years old or younger interested in playing on the Shaker Heights Youth Baseball Travel Team for the upcoming 2010 Season, is invited to attend a scheduled open tryout on either Saturday, September 12th or Saturday, September 19th at Lomond Fields from 9am to 11pm. To qualify, you cannot turn 11 years old before May 1, 2010. The team will be associated with Shaker Youth Baseball and will play other travel teams in the Buckeye Baseball League. Refer to buckeyebaseballleague.com for League information. The cost estimate will be around $250 - 300 per player.

Travel baseball is for those players who wish to play the game at a higher level of competition.  There is a higher level of commitment to this level of baseball in regards to practice and attendance. Tryouts will last approximately 2 hours. Your child will be evaluated on infielding, outfielding, throwing, pitching, running, catching, game awareness and hitting. We will also be observing attitude, athleticism and hustle in our evaluation.

Practice will begin in the Winter indoors at a local gym and other baseball practice facilities in the area. Games will begin in March 2010 and end around July 4th. All-Star and playoff games occur right after the Holiday. Games will played in throughout the Lake, Geagua and Cuyahoga Counties, playing travel teams from various communities. There will be approximately 20-30 games and we will enter 2-3 tournaments around the region.

Please contact Mark Henning at markhenning@wwdb.org if you would like your child to tryout for this competitive and fun baseball experience prior to the tryout. The team to be selected will consist of only 11-13 players that are committed to the program and the team.
